Image Loading...The Story So Far...

You can always count on Hasbro to deliver a nice console translation of a world famous board game. For the PSX they have already distributed RISK (which I still play on a weekly basis), Monopoly and Life. Well now get ready for the next big board game translation - Scrabble for the Playstation.

For those of you that are unaware of this game, Scrabble is basically the ultimate interactive word game. Players get seven "tiles" with a letter on each, that they use to spell out words by placing the letters on the game board.

Image Loading...Each letter is assigned a certain amount of points. For example: vowels are all worth 1 point, whereas some of the harder letters used to make words like the "Q" is worth ten points. The other letters fall somewhere in between as far as points go.

Some spaces on the board will give player's double or triple letter scores and some spaces will give double of triple word scores.

I have always felt that board games make good targets for console games. You get to avoid all the setup time, losing key pieces and having to store the boxes. Scrabble is no different and makes an excellent transition to the Playstation.

The game is still in development but already looks like another fine board to console game conversion for Hasbro.

The music kind of reminded me of something that I would hear in a lounge…not my type of listening music but certainly catchy for this type of game. More importantly, it is rather relaxing and doesn't break your concentration when you are trying to think up words to spell.

Scrabble features multi-player support with different levels of play and skill that should make it accessible to the entire family.
