Review:

Bomberman is back with all the fun from the original and an expanded party mode for all your friends to play. Go solo and complete various stages and progress through the story mode in the classic version that has made this famous. Or play with up to 5 people in the highly addictive battle modes.

The premise is simple, you control a character that drops bombs (hence the name). The explosions can destroy barriers that block your way, but more importantly, they can also eliminate your enemies - last man standing is the winner.

The simplicity of the game is its true virtue. Each stage is a maze with it's own theme. The single player game starts out simple but as you progress the action picks up to a fevered pitch. More creatures trying to blast you, larger mazes, and new powers to watch out for.

Above all, make sure you don't get trapped in a corner or else you will literally have no place to go when your enemies start throwing bombs in your direction.

While single player mode is fun for a while, the true brilliance of this game can only be appreciated when you and up to 4 other friends go head to head in the multiplayer mode.

The boards look like something out of a twisted Pac-man dream. You can blow up various walls to make your own short cuts and set traps for your poor hapless opponents. Grab the power ups to gain that slight advantage and go to work setting up bombs. Dodge the debuffing icons to stay alive, jump through tubes, ride the rails, teleport to various spots, and always stay alert. The action is fast and getting killed is always just around the corner. The game uses strategy, action, and power boosts, all at a fever pitch. So team with your buddies or play against them. What ever you do just try to survive.

Choose from the classic retro visuals that we have all come to love, or a spruced up version that give the game a far more modern look. The graphics aren't what you call jaw dropping, but they are in that cute category that kids are used too - bright colors with adorable little creatures. But don't be fooled into thinking that this game is just for children... no, no, no, this baby will be loved by all ages.

Even the soundtrack is similar to the original, giving it an overall 'retro' feel.
