Setting the Scene:

Ah, the summer is a mere few months away….already we are getting the first few hints of spring and the grass is already turning back to a nice shade of green again. Of course for any avid golfer, thoughts immediately turn to the links, but in the meantime there is surely something to hold you over…

In Everybodies Golf 2 you get to play some golf as one of 13 characters that you would definitely not normally see on a golf course. Don't be fooled by the clothes and goofy appearance though, these golfers can play. You enter into a match with another player on a stunning course with great views. So go grab your clubs and let's get ready to play!

Sound and Vision:

The graphics in Everybodies Golf 2 are everything that Sony says they are. The 3-D rendering is fantastic and the backdrops are gloriously detailed. To really take in the whole scene this game gives you many camera angles. You can view the entire hole and you can zoom down the course in any direction and really catch all the details. There is no mistaking anything on the course. There are even leaves flying, and at times the gentle trickle of rain falling…hell, there are even dragonflies hovering around. They certainly didn't miss any of the details. The markings from the lawnmower are on all the fairways, and when your ball goes into a sand trap, you see the path of the ball on the sand.

If I have a complaint, it is in the sound effects. The stereo sound is great and you get commentary on your shots, but the choice and variety could have been better. The game gives you two courses to start with. One is in a wintry area and the other is by the ocean. The ocean sounds are artificial and drone on and on. The wintry area has a howling wind that continues all throughout. Some of the sound effects just don't sound realistic and become somewhat of an annoyance with repeated exposure. I don't know if this is by design, or what, but they sound fake. The ball dropping into the cup doesn't have that hollow plastic sound, but rather sounds like a ball being dropped into a coffee can. When the ball lands on the fairway, it makes an odd (fake) thudding sound as it bounces. There are good sounds too, though. If you hit a tree, you hear the rustling of the leaves and see leaves fall and you know you've hit the tree. If you land in the rough or sand, the sounds are more realistic.
