Delphine
took all the play mechanics out of Flashback and Out of this World and created
another outstanding game! It is a cross between Doom and Resident evil and
played in total 3D! You play as Conrad Hart and have been leaping cryogenically
(after escaping the morphs at the end of Flashback!) for 50 years, when suddenly
your ship is found by your old enemies!
You get sent to a jail called
NEW ALCATRAZ. Don't start crying yet though, it seems some human rebel some
where in the prison heard about your conflicts with the morphs and decides to
break you out and give you a pistol and communicator

|
A
strategy game that includes a nice blend of shoot-em-up and puzzle solving into
the gameplay.
|
|
The
graphics are totally 3D and the camera stays a couple of feet above Conrad and
then zooms in to peek around a corner in order to make the targeting of the
enemy a little easier. The screen moves very fluidly, especially considering the
vast amount of graphical data that is being moved around.
Conrad, the
main character, has been graphically boosted in this version of the game, using
the texture mapping facilities of the PlayStation to the full. He now sports a
nifty pair of blue jeans (complete with designer label on the back!) leather
jacket and trainers. Even his hair has been slicked-back.

The
music in Fade to Black is truly cinematic. When you are about to be surprised by
an enemy or something, the volume and intensity of the music quickly build,
giving a very dramatic and absorbing atmosphere to the game.
|
|
Like the others in the series Fade To Black is pretty hard, but you can save
your current position in the game at any time. It has lots of levels to keep you
busy and adds a lot of puzzles to keep up the challenge. You should be playing
this game for quite a while, trying to find out all the secrets it offers!
Apart
from the adventure/puzzle element of the game, there is also a 3D flight mode
within the game, offering the gamer some mild brain relief for a short while, as
various obstacles and enemies need to be avoided, before Conrad can progress
further into the game.

|
Great
graphics show off the PlayStations abilities to the Max. Atmospheric background
music adds greatly to the game. Loads of levels to complete, thus giving the
game longevity. Both Adventure and shoot-em-up fans should feel at home with
this one. This game is great if you are looking for another resident evil type
game or just want an adventure game that`s lots of fun but also adds puzzles to
solve. Either way I recommend you get this game and I promise you will enjoy it
for a long time!

This
is a great game until you reach the fifth level. The final half of the game can
be completed in a matter of hours which was very disappointing. On the Up-side,
its now available as a platinum title, which makes it great value for money. |
