Playability:

The good news is that the individual characters are very easy to master, due to the basic moves for each of the Jedi being identical. I recommend that you try out different characters to see which best matches your playing style. To spice things up, each character also has a set of special moves that are unique to him or her (Obi-Wans is activated by quickly pressing the square button 3 times). Each Jedi also has his own "Force" moves and bonuses, which are earned throughout the game by picking up special items along the way.

The bad news is that whichever character you select, they are going to die... many, many times.

After you pick your Jedi and enter level 1, you will see from the status screen that you have 5 lives in which to complete the level. I feel sure that you will find (as I did) that this is nowhere near enough to complete many of the levels.

Additional lives can be gained by killing robots, smashing terminals and picking up objects, but yet again these are too few and far between to be of any real use.

The camera angles also make many of the jumps almost impossible to judge with any real accuracy, resulting in... you guessed it... more premature deaths for your Jedi.

Once you've lost them all its game over, no save, start over at the beginning of the level. I consider myself an experienced gamer and I played for many hours, barely getting much further on specific levels each time.

This game is screaming for cheat codes if anyone wants to seriously tackle and win this thing. Without them many gamers will give up in sheer frustration long before they have completed the game

There is another interesting note on this. You can choose between Jedi Mode and Easy Mode. I tried both, thinking that maybe I can get further in Easy Mode, but I sensed no difference in the difficulty of the fighting or opponents.

Game Options:

This is a 1 disk game for 1 or 2 Players. It is compatible with the standard (digital) joypad and the analog stick controls of the dual shock joypad. Games can be saved via memory card (1 block per save).

Staff Opinions
Tom D  " So what it comes down to is we have great graphics, great sound FX, great soundtrack and an easy to master game that has no way for you to save a placeholder to practice getting past certain choke points.

You'd think that the first few levels would be relatively easy to get through to gain your confidence and then get progressively harder. Sure it does get harder, but the very first level is difficult enough.

I guess what I'm saying is if you have enormous patience and a tremendous amount of time on your hands, you'll definitely progress through all the levels. I'm just not sure if many people will have enough patience to do this.

We would therefore recommend that you try-before-you-buy, especially if you are buying this for a younger or inexperienced gamer."
