Setting the Scene

Imagine a game where you control a tank armed to the teeth carrying out missions with specific criteria, then imagine that you were apart of a Hip Hop Organization, and the turret of your tank read "Keepin Da Peace". The introduction, to this game was very well done. It starts out as an interactive garage, where you can actually introduce yourself to the members of the team. When you are done appreciating the eye candy, you have the option of going to the Briefing Room where you will receive your objectives.

Genre

Strategic Shoot-em-up

Graphics

Apart from the introduction, this game was rather basic. The view was from the cockpit of the tank, complete with radar screen so you can pinpoint the other tanks/vehicles, and a gauge for your energy, weapons, and a gun display (so you knew what you were firing). The resolution was crisp unless you got right up on an object, then you'd notice the pixelation. Overall, the game's graphics were satisfactory, not mind-blowing, but not disappointing either.

Sounds and Effects

The sound consisted of Hip Hop beats with dialogue inserted here and there (whenever you took a hit, or destroyed someone. The tracks were slammin enough for me to get into this game, and the encouragement by way of slang coming from Earshot kept me hyped.

Playability

The control of the tank was smooth and required some reading of the novel so the player can maximize the Sony paddle. Shellshock allows the player to drive one direction while swiveling the Tank Gun(s) in different directions.

The environment is supposedly 3-D, but like most games of this genre, its really 2-D (like Doom). A positive feature of the game is that you can upgrade your vehicle as you earn money from Props, a supposed weapons dealer that is a part of your organization. Why you have to pay him is beyond me, but I didn't make the game. (I just play it).

One downside of the game, is that every time I play, the enemies seem to be in the same place, offering little challenge, or excitement for repeat play.

Value for Money

Excellent Audio. Interactive environment. Option of upgrading tank. Different concept as far as the hip hop theme. Predictable enemies AI.

GRAPHICS:

Good

A nice change to playing the ususal type of shoot-em-up, but a little bit more time should have been spent on the Artificial Inteligence of the enemy tanks due to the fact that they soon become predictable.
