| Playability: The good news is that what the game lacks in graphics and sounds the game does make up in overall gameplay. Wild Arms 2 has similar traits as it's predecessor. You play as three individual characters that eventually meet and work together. One is a typical leader, another has the ability to cast spells, and the third is an accomplished fighter. Each has a nice story line adding depth to the game. As the game progresses you are faced with a number of thought provoking puzzles that add a welcome change of pace. These range from simply using your weapons to activate objects, remembering number or color sequences, or meeting people at a certain location or in a specific order. Over three hundred monsters encompass the world of Filgaia, so as you can imagine, much of your time is taken up deciding whether to attack or avoid these creatures. Battles are turn based - so its a case of you slap me then I'll slap you. You can choose from physical attacks using various weapons, or spells can be cast with different levels of destruction. A welcome touch is the ability to fight battles in automatic mode. When this is set you choose the type of attacking strategy and the computer will follow faithfully. Select a normal physical attack, a magical barrage, or use a combination of the two. Battles can often be swung to your favor by modifying your weapon attributes - such as attack power and hit percentage. Items can be collected that when used allow for healing, protection, or a number of other effects. Guardians are another powerful addition and add to your party's abilities. Exploration of the world is no small task. You start of in one part of the continent and can discover new towns, villages and dungeons. The game has dozens of dungeons and plenty of powerful guardians are waiting to be found. As you roam the land you will press the button to search an area. Sometimes you will find money, other times you will find a new town, but most of the time it will be a fruitless exploration. Game Options: This is a 1 disk game for 1 Player. It is compatible with the standard (digital) joypad and the analog stick controls of the dual shock joypad. Games can be saved via memory card (1 block per save). |
