I can't remember a time in recent history when I've had such a plethora of games to choose from, to the point where I don't quite know what to do. Have you ever had that problem?

You know, it took a legend like Michael Jackson dying to bring me out of retirement. Okay, so it wasn't so much retirement as a hiatus, but nonetheless here I am, ready to bi*ch...

As you sit here and read this, take a glance at your right hand. Clench it into a fist. Relax it. Cross your fingers. Make a snapping sound. Pick your nose (wait...don't do that last one. That's kinda gross) I'm trying to make a point. These are things we all take for granted every day. Everytime we play video games, click our mouse, type our posts/blogs etc. we use our hands, usually our right hand the most. My friend and co-worker just lost his right hand...

I told myself that I wouldn't do it again. I mean, the last time was out of control. Sprawled out on the floor... crying... acting like a baby. If you can't handle something, then you shouldn't do it. Willpower. That's what I've always said. But some things you just can't resist. When your body says, "Let's do this", it really doesn't matter what your mind says...

This week has been pretty special. Not only have I had my first week of vacation this year (and boy did I need it) but the annual company golf tournament was on Tuesday. Our team tied for first at 5 under but lost on handicap. Still, I had a great time and got to play a round of golf with 3 co-workers I had never played with before. Then today was the icing on the cake...

It's been so long... I almost forgot what they were like. I knew it was happening in other parts of the world. Heck, I even had suspicions it was going around me. Right under my nose! I mean, it had to be, didn't it? Did society all of a sudden break down and chaos now reigned? Did I miss the press conference? Was there a memo I didn't read? I don't think so. I knew there would be an end to this madness eventually. Something, somewhere had to give. A breaking point. The final straw. A light at the end of the tunnel...

Two weeks ago today, my home state of Oklahoma (which is not known for harsh winters) was hit by an ice storm. It knocked down power and utility poles for hundreds of miles. Over 100,000 people in the state were without power at one point. Our entire town was without electricity. There are still people without power today.
My experience was typical of what most went through in our town. We had no electricity for over a week. Our house is all electric so we had no way to keep warm. With temps below freezing outside, it wasn't long before the house became an icebox.

Oklahoma certainly has it's share of wacky weather. They say, "If you don't like the weather here, just wait awhile. It's sure to change." That is often true. We are part of "Tornado Alley" but that season is past. The summer is brutally hot but the winter is usually mild. I live far enough in the south that I hardly ever see any snow in the winter. Yesterday was the exception to the rule. We got snow and sleet all day.

First of all, I'm a Marvel guy. Always have been, always will be. But, there are some DC characters that we all know and love. Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern and the Flash are all classic DC supers. Can they help bring "Justice" to this DC video game? How will it stack up against Marvel's X-Men series? I decided to take a look.

I began a rather interesting procedure this week. I am getting a new molar/dental implant.
I don't know how many of you out there have ever had this done, but it was excruciatingly hilarious in my case. Let me share...

"Every dog has his day."
Scarface. One of the all time greatest movies ever made. No doubt about that. But how does the PS2 game measure up?
Scarface - The World Is Yours does something I didn't think was possible. It's actually an awesome game. I can't think of one single game that has been based off a movie that can compare to this.
At first, I had some serious doubts. I mean, it started off looking like a cuss-fest full of F-Bombs. I thought they had taken the cheesy approach by throwing in a bunch of foul language instead of having some real dialogue. I mean, the novelty wears off on that kind of stuff really quick.

Say hello to my little friend...
We all know how Tony Montana went out... coked-up in a hail of bloody gunfire. The finishing touch applied from behind sent him over the edge of a life that was spinning out of control.
Not so fast. Apparently, there has been a rift in the fabric of time and space, because Tony does not die. Scarface - The World Is Yours picks up during the final showdown at the Montana Estate, where you meet Tony's "little friend".

Rockstar goes to reform school. That was the first thing that entered my mind. I mean, reform school is where they send the "bad" kids, is it not? And we all know what "bad boys" Rockstar can be. You'd be hard pressed to find another game company that has taken as many punches in the public eye as Rockstar has.
So, this seems to be a match made in heaven. Does it pay off? Well, from what I've seen so far, I think this will be another hit... and I mean that twofold. I think Bully will be a hit with gamers and I also think Rockstar will take some hits from the same public that deemed them bad boys.

"The flowing brush is like music from the heavens." Issun - The Wandering Artist.
Okami is different. I've never played anything quite like it. Then again, in many ways, it is a familiar game. I'm only a couple hours into it, but I'm having a good time so far. It is sort of a colorful adventure type of game from what I can tell.
I went into it without any preconceptions and my only knowledge of the game was one paragraph of game description and a handful of screenshots. Within a few seconds of the opening story, I knew this was going to be special. Heavily influenced by traditional Japanese watercolor artwork, the game is almost like living art. The mix of cell shaded animation with the watercolor artwork motif make it a visually unique game.

WARNING - The following is a rant. Stop right here if you don't want to "hear" it.
What I'm seeing is a lack of respect. Give some credit where credit is due. I know there have been years where it wasn't pretty but I think we're looking at the real thing here. The last few years should be proof enough that what is happening is no fluke. Sure, it's way too early to tell but I think we've got something special going on.
