I would like to point out that only once in my life have I ever been a boss - it was for all of 3 months and it was about 5 years ago - this woman was about 15 years my senior and she still says that I was the best boss she ever had. And thats without it being the sort of relationship they post on websites that you can find Tiff viewing when Janeybobs is in a bit of a mood.... :o
Anyway back to the point
3 months ago a girl whom I worked with for 3 years, and whom I know some of the most bizzare things about, became my boss.
I have often heard them say that if you are the boss you cant work with your friends and it appears that "friend" is no longer a word in my old colleague's vocabulary.
We used to say things about others who had moved up the ranks and forgot who they were in the trenches with and swore it would never happen, but it looks to me and the others around me (who dont know this girl as long as I do) that she has taken all the things we watched others do and perfected them.
Its a serious case of us and them, and now I am definitely in the them in my one time friends eyes.
Its terrible what a little bit of power does...I am not talking about finger on the nuclear trigger here, its signing off my pay sheet ffs!!
Is there some course on tape that you get once you become a management grade? You listen to it at night and within a week you are no longer human? If so, where is the factory that produces such tapes as I have a little monologue of my own to record? Something like "work hard, torture the grunts on monday, make them squirm on Tuesday, go to work naked on Wednesday, give cash bonuses to staff on Thursdays, be almost human on Friday"
Now if your boss is a bit rough looking Wednesday could be a good day to be sick, or a better day to bring your camera..... ;)
Again, back to the point - Why are bosses a pain in the ar$e???

The main problem comes from the supposed manager and the higher ups from head office who haven't seen how it's done.
