Right, first things first. I'd better take you back about er 3 months, maybe longer?
I applied to a local school for a Teaching Assistant job. To cut a long story short, I didn't get the job
Anyway, about a week or two later, I got a letter stating that I hadn't been successful with my job, but they DID think my application form was excellent. This naturally lead me to the thoughts, "if it was sooo good, then why the h**l didn't they give me an interview at the very least?"
That brings us up to speed, and so to today (kind of)...
Right, I got a letter from the same school on Saturday stating something along the lines of:
Our records show that you applied for a job here. Unfortunately you were unsuccessful. However, your application form was brilliant.
We were therefore wondering if you would accept supply work as either a Teaching Assistant or at our After School Club. Please could you contact us at the beginning of next week if you are interested.
I phoned the school Monday morning. Turns out I phoned at the time when the HeadTeacher was taking morning assembly.
So, the secretary, receptionist person said she could get the head to phone me back later in the day. I had college in the morning, so I said could she get the head to ring me at the end of the school day. Would be better for me and the head.
So, the head phoned back about 15:30 and I spoke to her, organised an informal interview for 10:30 this morning.
This leads us up to today...
So, I turned up for the interview and had a nice talk with the head for about quarter of an hour. She said, even though there wasn't any supply work available at the moment, she would, however, keep me on record, and give me a ring if anything turned up.
I personally think it went alright, but I'll have to wait and see.
Oh, while I think of it, as I was leaving the school, one of the kids saw me and said hi then bye. I know her from the After School Club I was working at until June this year. I just hope that won't somehow ruin my chances of a job there, because I know one of the children already from somewhere else. Well, actually, I know a few of the children from the After School Club I worked at, plus my 10 year old nephew goes to that school as well. I forgot to mention that though, hope the head won't hold it against me for not mentioning it
Anyway, that's enough of my needless ranting. Keep your fingers crossed for me, ok?
Cheers,
Jay

Re: To get a job or to not get a job, THAT is the question? Answer on a postcard to the following address...
