Well folks, after buying my awesome One Tree Hill Season 3 DVD I have decided to review it.
But Mel, it's not a game!
Yes, I know, but it certainly gives you all a break and a chance to read something semi interesting. Assuming none of you but Jay seem to care for what's going on with me.
What's it about?
Two brothers and their struggle with their family, namely their father. The father has (based on what the episodes have revealed) one son (Lucas) with his cheerleader girlfriend from high school and yet another son (Nathan) with his wife. Both kids are the same age. Both boys play basketball as did their father years ago.
Sounds like a soap opera to me.
Think what you want. There are several other characters involved in the story, yet they don't really involve the main plot.
Okay, now what about the review?
Season Three was a complete shocker for me. I hate to say it, but I have not watched this show since after the First season simply because it has changed airing time over and over so I can't keep up. So instead I usually buy the Season DVDs and watch them.
Personally, after all the just plain depressing drama in Season 2 and the nonsensical drama in Season 1, Season 3 made a great equalatoral plane for the whole series. While Season 1 was mainly just an exposition, it appeared to me that Season 1 was merely just experimentation. Season 2 was more realistic than it's predecessor but was just too stinking depressing.
So here comes Season 3. I pick it up at Fry's and examine it skeptically and expect for it to be either a repetition of Season 1 or a re-hashing of Season 2. But it wasn't.
Season 3 struck me more than Season 1 and 2 simply because of how incredibly realistic it was. Liposuction, Non exclusive dating, School shootings, Leading others on, friendships broken, struggling marriages and death. It all just hit me like a big sack of potatoes.
You can't watch things like that without reflection.
Season 3 has earned 4 out of 5 Stars in my opinion simply for acheieving that, if nothing else.
