PSone REVIEW:

Due to popular demand, Crash is back with all his friends and enemies alike. This is the 5th appearance of that wiley Bandicoot and not content with racing and jumping, now we are treated to a 3D battle game, made up of a bunch of mini-games - multi-player arena style. Get ready to get down and help Crash and his friends save the world from destruction.

Party on…you can play it alone but Crash Bash is really meant for multiple players, so get a few friends together, whip out that multi-tap and have some fun. Choose a character, each has it\\'s own talents. Crash is the leader of the good guys, his team consists of Coco (little sis), Tiny, and Dingodile. On the flip side, there is Dr. Neo Cortex (Dr. Evil wantabe) who heads up the bad guy team along with Dr. N. Brio, Rilla Roo, Koala Kong. Each team has a guardian angel so to speak, but a much uglier version.

Jumping into the game, there are a few game modes to choose from. The Adventure mode is for one to two players, which is made up of a variety of mini-games. My personal favorite was this silly racing game where your slip-sliding away while on the back of a polar bear, or pouncing around on a pogo stick and color as many squares as you can before your opponents beat you to the punch. If you want to get a little nasty, throw some TNT and blast your foes-be last man standing..just don\\'t wake the penguin, or some pinball - Crash style. Whatever the battle, win the Trophies or other precious stones and get a chance to take on the Big Bad Guy.

When you have a few friends around try the Battle and Tournament modes. You can team up in pairs or battle head to head. Cool mode when you are in the mood for kicking some ass, especially your buddies, hehehe! The Tournament mode takes a bit of patience; you need to play numerous events in a row to take victory.

The secret to unlocking new arenas is based on your determination, not much skill is required, and a little luck can\\'t hurt. Once Crash concurs his mission for that level, he earns the right to do the warp thing. (For new gamers…this is like a time travel machine that will take you to a different place in a New York second).

I think the graphics are decent and appealing to the eye but not up to the same standards as when Naughty Dog had their hands on things. Good animation though! The Crash characters appear very cartoon-like with smooth and colorful features. The background gave a 3d like appearance with good depth. This helped because of the arcade nature of the mini-games to see just what was going on.

The sound grooves with the characters and reflect the action that\\'s taking place in the game. Nothing spectacular, could get annoying after an hour or so.

Review SUMMARY and SCORE
Loretta Mattie  "Crash Bash is a great party game for all ages. There is enough variety to keep you glued to your TV for a few hours.

For the simple-minded gamers, there is no drawn out story line to follow. It\\'s like walking into an arcade and putting a quarter in the slot, play and concur!

I found it to be a bit repetitive at times but still enjoyed playing it. Some may say it lacks in originality due to the similarities of a certain N64 game, but so what…this is the playstation version and one of its kind if thought of in that respect."

We promise that we have fully played 'Crash Bash' before writing this review. The scores given above are our honest opinion and were not influenced in any way by the manufacturer or distributor of the game.

SUMMARY OF FINAL RATING (%)

00 - 59 This makes your console seem like an older machine. It utilises little or none of the PSone power.

60 - 69 This game is little more than average and we advise renting or play-testing before considering a purchase.

70 - 79 This is a good solid title that should still appeal to those who like this type of game.

80 - 89 This is a fantastic game that we think you will enjoy playing for quite some time.

90 - 100 This game either pushes the boundaries of it's genre further than ever before on this system, or creates a completely new gaming experience. Either way, it should not be missed and is an essential purchase in our opinion.

IMPORTANT - PLEASE READ:

It is very important that you are aware that the criteria we use to obtain review scores on the PS2 is very different to that used for games on the original Playstation (PSone). The Processing and Graphical power of the two consoles are vastly different and as our reviews are graded against what we estimate is the achievable potential of each system, it does not mean in any way that a game scoring 80 percent on PS2 is worse than a Playstation (PSone) equivalent which scores 95.
