Problems starting up - only show white screen
  • Hi,

I recently inherited this wonderful console that has a lot of nostalgia over it.

Anyways, I tried hooking it up and when it start up it only loads the first "loading screen", or the white screen. It never moves on to the black PS logo screen. My thought is that it has something to do with the power supply.

    What are you thoughts?

Any help would be lovely. It's hard getting any info on PS1 problems as google search really enjoy giving you results with PS2 & 3.

    Thanks, Nicco.
  • If it is getting to the main screen and bring up the white load screen then it isn't a power or video cable issue. Most likely the problem is the system's disc drive itself is now unable to read the games. If this is the case you may need to look into finding a different PSOne system or pick up a cheap PS2 to play the games.
  • Is it the disc driver even though I can't clean memory cards on it aswell?
  • So it doesn't even get to the main screen if you turn it on with no game in place? If that is the case then the motherboard itself could be shot and you would have no choice but to look into a replacement.
  • Ah, something like that I feared. Thanks though.
