GOW II - Euryale's Defeat
  • Hello...I'm stuck at the very end of the pillar puzzle...I can get there just fine...Ive made sure to turn all turnstyles and pull all levers but the gate remains closed...Ive gone over every inch of the puzzle over and over again but the gate will not open...I dont want to start the game from the beginning as the last save I have is from the beginning of this puzzle...HELP !!!!!
  • This bit I grabbed out of a walkthrough should cover you.

After crossing the threshold, the camera will change angles. To the east |
is a crank adjacent to an extremely tall shaft. There are six white
markers at the base of this shaft, so this will be the white shaft. Turn
the crank clockwise twice to fully raise the shaft and reveal a grappling
point.

Drop into the water. To the southwest are five ceramic urns that can be
broken for red orbs. Break them by charging the R1 dash. Proceed to the
right, and you'll see a griffin. Surface and head to the north a little
bit. There will be a platform with a lever. Hop onto the platform and
pull the lever. This will raise the underwater gate to the north. Use
the Amulet of the Fates to slow down time, then quickly jump into the
water, and head north before the gate closes. After going through the
gate, notice that there are two levers underwater. One to the right
(east) and one straight ahead (north). Pull the lever to the east to
permanently raise the gate that you just passed.

Head to the northwest of this quadrant, and you'll find an urn to break.
Surface and jump onto the platform of the yellow shaft. Rotate the crank
next to the shaft clockwise twice to fully raise the shaft and reveal
another grappling point.

Drop back into the water. Head to the lever that hasn't been pulled yet,
and pull it. This will raise two gates to Kratos's right. Quickly fully
charge a dash and head through BOTH of these gates. When the dash runs
out, just keep gliding, and you should clear the second gate. If you
didn't make it through the second one, follow the path to the right and
you'll return to the white quadrant. Return to the yellow quadrant and
pull the lever again, then try once more to get past both gates.

Once you're past both gates, surface and jump onto the platform of the
red shaft. Rotate the crank next to the shaft clockwise twice to fully
raise the shaft and reveal another grappling point.

To the west of this crank (red shaft), is a broken wall. Break down the
wall to expose a Red orb chest. [If you missed one, this chest will have
a {GORGON EYE}.]

    | Drop back into the water. To the northeast, underwater,
    there is a |
destructible gate. Charge the dash and break on through to the other
side.

Surface and head to the north to a platform with a lever. Pull the lever
to open the gate above. Underneath this platform are four ceramic urns.

There is another crank/shaft system (yellow). Turn the crank clockwise
twice to fully raise the yellow shaft.

Head to the east, and jump onto a platform. Go north, then climb the
ladder. After reaching the top of the ladder, go forward and depress the
button.

This will expose another ladder (accessible in the white quadrant). Head
south to find two Red orb chests. Go back down the ladder (not the white
quadrant one, but the one you climbed up before depressing the button).

Go down the pathway to the east. There will be a shaft in the middle of
this area. To the north is a Statue of the Fates and a crank.

Once Kratos gets near the crank, there will be a force-field that will
seal off the exit/entrance. A Hades Juggernaut will spawn. To make this
battle really easy, use the Amulet of the Fates to slow down time and get
in some devastating combos, like (T)(T)(T). As the Juggernaut gets
injured, pieces of armor will fall off. If you don't want to manipulate
time, roll, use (S)(S)(T), and repeat. Eventually, after all of the
armor has been shed, there will be a (O) above its head. Press (O) to
see a cool decapitation animation. If you want to see an even cooler
decapitation, slow down time, then do it. Upon death, it will yield red
and gold orbs.

After defeating the Hades Juggernaut, three Hades Fiends will spawn.
Deal with them as usual, or use the Amulet of the Fates to gain the upper
hand. Doing the latter allows Kratos to evade their attacks, a la Max
Paine.

After the first three are finished, another wave of three Hades Fiends
and another Hades Juggernaut will spawn. Take care of them as before.
After these guys are killed, yet another Hades Juggernaut will spawn.
Destroy them all. The force-field will then deactivate.

Here comes the fun/hard part. Turn the crank clockwise twice to fully
raise the shaft. Unlike the other three, this shaft will start
descending once Kratos lets go of the crank. Therefore, slow down time
and head back to the ladder you climbed earlier. Climb the ladder. Go
to the north, and get near the ledge. Slow down time again. Make use of
the grappling point. Grapple and swing around, then double jump, then
grapple again. Repeat this process four times. Between the last two
shafts/grappling points, there is an obstacle, blocking your way. Just
time your release to get past the obstacle. Upon grappling onto the last
shaft/grappling point, take your time to make sure Kratos jumps onto the
exit platform.

Walk north on the exit platform and get near the Green chest orb on the
right side to activate the checkpoint. After activating the checkpoint,
head south to the ledge, then jump and make use of the grappling point.
With the exit platform being 12:00 on a clock, time your jump to jump
onto a platform at the 3:00 position. There are two chests. A Red orb
chest is on the right. The left chest contains a .

(If Kratos didn't make it to this platform, Restart from Last Checkpoint
by pressing SELECT, then highlighting the option).

Kratos should have collected another six phoenix feathers by now, which
will refill and increase Kratos's magic meter a couple of centimeters.

Make use of the grappling point and jump back onto the exit platform.
  • Hi...the walkthrough is good...and I get to the end as described but the final gate @ 12 o'clock is closed.....I have gone back and tried to re-do everything but no cranks move and the last gate remains closed.
