Rock-trial By Media
  • Time and time again I have found that people's taste in music is deside by the media.I discovered since I have listened to some stuff by Slipknot,Marlin Manson,Murderdolls etc. that the media assumes the music is $hit does because the artist dresses weird or has some weird social habbit. This in turn makes alot of people hate this bands. But ever since I have listened to music channels such as Scuzz and P-rock I have found these bands in a lot of cases rock just as much if not more than the main stream bands
  • Some people generally make a decision on the music the artist makes when they've heard about them from the media...even if they haven't listened to them before. That's just the way things are and it shows the influence of media on todays music.

Media has a lot of influence. Just look at Eminem, granted his career flourished with the media, but thats not always the case.

I would like to point out that the bands that you were talking about are mainstream. Unless you mean mainstream as in pop. But still, those bands are mainstream.
  • I'd like to say that some people I kknow like a particular type of music becuase their friends likeit, and perhaps the 'popular' people like it, so that they pretend they like it to try to fit in.

And also people judge much music by its image, so anything rock, punk or metal is regarded as 'horrible grunger music' without actually listening to it.
  • If people base what they like solely on what the media tells them they should like then they are sorely missing out on some of the best music out there.

I for one like to listen to the cheap stuff that barely anyone has heard of or don't think of as playing good music. Case in point, I am currently listening to:

Poison the Well and after that i have plans to listen to Twisted Method after that.

Sure, some mainstream music is good and i don't deny that i listen to them just as much as i do the obscure but some of the better music is the unheard or unfounded groups that you can find for low prices.

There are many sites out there that you can listen to different cds and find out if you like them. If you don't know what to listen to......Go to cdnow.com and choose music and then type in your favorite band or artist and then go down to the bands they recommend and listen to some of the stuff you've never heard of before. This is an easy way to find good cds that aren't mainstream and also a good place to just find very good cds in general.

Well, i hope that you all enjoy posting and have fun gaming.
