Lord Of The Riff
  • I was going to make this topic a poll, but I realised there are so so many great riffs out there...

This one is for all you air guitarists, rockers, head bangers... I know its a controversial issue, and a hard decision because there are so many sweet riffs but name a few if you feel like, and also say why you like them. My top two would most likely come down to...

Whole Lotta Love - Led Zeppelin
Guns N Roses - Sweet Child O' Mine

    Hounourable mentions to...

Smoke On The Water - Deep Purple
    Enter Sandman - Metallica
    Master Of Puppets - Metallica
    Back In Black - AC/DC
    Voodoo Child - Jimi Hendrix
    Paranoid - Black Sabbath
    Crazy Train - Ozzy Osbourne
    Black Dog - Led Zeppelin
Aint Talkin' 'Bout Love - Van Halen
    Walk This Way - Aerosmith
Sunshine Of Your Love - Cream
No-One Knows - Queens Of The Stone Age
Paradise City - Guns N` Roses

Remember, we are talking RIFFs here people, not Solos. That list would be pretty different if we were talking solos. If you feel the need to discuss solos make another thread :p

  • One of the more unusual ones. From the song Inca Roads on Frank Zappa and the Mothers of Invention album One Size Fits All, there is a solo which Frank himself refers to as having the sound of a Bulgarian bagpipe. Also, the Vince Guaraldi Charlie Brown christmas theme song being played by bassist Stu Hamm, as well as his rendition of Country Music, a night in hell .
