No-employers are to pay at least the regulated minimum wage,regardless of tips.If an employer is doing as your question implies,I would advise giving a labor board rep a call-that would be illegal under labor laws. 2. This practice is mainly done by the higher-end establishments.Personally,I don't care for it. 3. Tips are still considered an income so that money still would have to be claimed for income tax purposes-no getting around giving the tax man his ( at times unfair) cut. 4. Not quite sure where you are going with this (unless you mean the employer is deducting tax off the incoming tips also,which shouldn't be happening). 5. Yes,I do believe in tipping-if the service I have recieved warranted it.I've been to some places where the wait staff had been lax or acted as if you were intruding on their time.Usually in those cases I would not tip and most likely take my business elsewhere the next time.Most times,however,I find that the employees are trying their best to make the experience a good one for the customers-I have no problem with giving a bit extra for that. Hmm...must be in US law but I'm pretty sure it isn't that way in Canada,mad.[/b]</span>[/SIZE]
