Review of No One Lives Forever
No One Lives Forever stars a female James Bond type “Cate Archer”. She is a sexy bombshell with a cocky sense of humor. Cate has every right to be cocky she is brave, smart, and dedicated to her work. Her rivals even respect her. In spite of everything, Cate still needs to work harder than her male counterparts to prove herself being a woman in the SPY Business.
To give you a little background on Cate, she was a former cat burglar with a very seedy past. This was probably due to the crummy childhood she had. Her mom died a week after giving birth to her and her father committed suicide leaving Cate an orphan. This made her a very angry woman, growing up the way she did moving from orphanage to orphanage. This led her down the path of being an outlaw stealing to get her kicks. One day Cate stole a watch from a fellow. He turns out to be an agent working for an organization called UNITY. Unity is an international agency that fights terrorism around the world. To make a long story short, Cate got in good with this fellow and began working for Unity.
Cate is not totally on her own. A British super spy named Bruno Lawrie is always looking after Cate acting as a mentor as well as a father figure. Tom Goodman is a handsome agent that also works along with Cate. Together they work to complete tasks and missions.
The player will have access to many gadgets, weapons, ammunition, and gear. Each gadget and weapon serves its purpose and should be used at the right place and time. For instance there is a Shepherd Arms P38 9mm, which is a semi automatic and can be easily concealed…very potent. There is also a M79 Grenade Launcher, which is very reliable and will explode grenades on impact. Cate also has a unique pair of sunglasses with some cool attributes as well as a zoomable camera, code breaker, and safecracker. Gear items are special power ups that can be collected while on a mission. To name a few….earplugs for protecting ears from loud explosions, scuba gear for diving, fuzzy slippers, which can be used, so you won’t be heard walking around. Some cool stuff to make things interesting!!
As the gamer goes thru the levels there will be exciting tasks to complete and there are tons of humorous dialogue. The gamer will be faced with finding intelligence items, completing rescue missions, escaping from enemies, capturing villains, and blowing things up. What more could you ask for. If the player wishes they can even answer questions now and then to be interactive with the characters.
The graphics are average and so are the special effects. The textures are smooth and the characters have a nice appeal. The best part of the game though is clearly the audio. The dialogue is very entertaining. The characters show distinct personality and have a great sense of humor. Cate doesn’t have to say much to get her point across. I guess that is what I liked about her the best. The background music has that James Bond charm with a 60s sound to it.
