I think you'll find that the Bluetooth controller IS recharged, like a mobile phone, by recharging it's lithium, mobile phone type, battery via a USB connection from the PS3 to the controller.
If you don't believe us then go to the official PS3 site where it tells you the details about the PS3 AND it's controller.
