The possibility is there that Gamestop, one of the largest game retailers in the US, will not be taking preorders for the PlayStation 3.
At a sales conference being held by the company in Dallas, Texas, mentioned this bit of news and citing the XBox 360 launch problems as a reminder not to make the same mistakes again. "I think the lesson is caution and optimism at the same time," said Steve Morgan, GameStop's president. As you will recall, the number of preorders greatly outweighed supply and some people waited months before getting their system despite it being fully paid for.
Gamestop's web page, as of yet, has no mention of preorder plans so there is a possibility this will be the case. They do have a link for signing up to get new information as it comes to them. This may be the best way to find out what their plans are.
