Dude, it's so much easier than that. It comes with a usb cord. You plug the controller into the usb cord, the usb plugs into the front of the ps3. You charge for a little while, rip the cord out and then play
There is even a charging indicator that you can bring up On Screen, that shows you if you are low on charge or not. I love the new wireless controller. It's really easy to use, and feels great.
