Sony has announced the pricing of all first-party titles for the PS3 in Europe and the UK as well as Australia and new Zealand, which also see the launch on March 23.
Launch titles such as Ridge Racer 7, Resistance: Fall of Man and Genji: Days of the Blade will retail for GBP 39.99/ Euro 59.99. Australia and New Zealand will see prices of AUD 99.95/ NZD 109.95.
Some hints were given for the downloadable game prices from the PlayStation Store- for an "introductory period", they will cost between EUR 2.99 and EUR 9.99, depending on the game. Downloadable content will start at a price of EUR 0.99 and up. This would cover in- game items like new tracks for Motorstorm or songs for SingStar, for example.
SCEE boss David Reeves commented, "Not only will it be completely free to register on the PlayStation Network with no subscription fees and access to many free demos, but with these competitive prices for additional content we are able to offer the consumer both top quality games on Blu-ray discs and a whole range of downloadable content.
"With over 30 first and third party disc and network games available at launch, we are confident that this will be one of the most successful launches of all time."
This pricing undercuts Microsoft's XBox 360, whose first- party games currently sell for GBP 49.99.
