Sorry to say but you wasted your money on that used system. The games will look to controller port 1 for single player gaming. Some games will let you change over to port 2 but not many.
If you know of anyplace around that does repairs on game systems they could replace that controller port for you or you can call Sony's tech support and talk to them about it. Either way is going to cost you some more cash.
