Hm- i had thought they were designed to take care of both the older and newer designs of PSOne. Guess it depends on who made the screen.
You could try getting all crafty with it and jury-rig something. If it did come down to buying a slim PSOne you wouldn't exactly be out too much more cash (if you can find one, considering they've been off the market for a few years now).
