You could try giving the PS2 lens a bit of a cleaning with a q-tip dipped in just a wee bit of alcohol such as isopropyl. It may be just a speck of dirt on the lens making the game act up.
It's odd that this is the only game to act up though. It's possible it is a glitch in the disc itself, in which case you will likely have to talk to EA's tech support about it.
