Now don't take this forgranted as the law because it might not be right.
In terms of tournaments, I think you have to remove a team and swap it for your new team instead. That's what you usually do with football games when you create a brand new team.
Like I said though, that might not be right. I've only just started playing the game myself, and haven't tried using much of the Creat A options. Only just created a player is all at the moment
