You may want to check out some of the threads in the PS3 hardware section (just below this one) regarding internet disconnects. Chances are you may have a setting wrong on the PS3's network connection. Also, if you are using a wireless connection and the router is any amount of distance away (a room over or so) you'll find the PS3 will not pick it up very well. If possible, use a wired connection.
