I'm going to guess this is at the first save point, where you first meet up with the soldiers and their dynamite-tossing leader.
You should see a slope going up to your left- head up here and you will find a new enemy, the Bulb Spider. Not exactly a major threat here, just a bit tougher than the Frogweeds. Once he is taken care of follow the path and glide over the gap.
