Default Re: Fire Pro Wrestling Returns (PS2)

The Fire Pro Wrestling series is pretty much the top selling series in Japan. Considering how big they are into pro wrestling there having the top selling series says something about it.

This game is old-school wrestling games at its best with some additions. Here's the full feature list:

• The first time this popular Japanese wrestling series has been released in North America on PlayStation 2.
• Up to 8 players can simultaneously go toe to toe..
• A huge variety of match types, everything from Singles to Battle Royal to Electrified Barbed Wire Ropes Exploding Deathmatch!.
• A complete arsenal of wrestling moves and holds. No other wrestling game has such a complete list of moves available..
• The deepest custom wrestler creator anywhere allows players to create and save hundreds of wrestlers, each with their own unique look, moves and AI!.
• The ability to create your own referee, ring, logo, and even belt allows players to recreate any dream match they can think of!.
• Match Maker mode lets players set up their own wrestling show, earn money, and attempt to lure bigger talent to their matches.

The customization features are going to help push this- make your own wrestlers has been done but customize your own wrestling rings and title belts? That's new to all. And really- how can one deny the spectacle of the Electrified Barbed Wire Ropes Exploding Deathmatch?

To be honest, however, I most likely will not be buying this one. Wrestling games such as this lose some lustre in single player after awhile- it's the multiplayer that makes for the longevity. For me, the number of other gamers in the area is next to nil (at least, those that have been able to keep up with the consoles) and I never cared much for playing against the CPU in sports games.
