I don't think its about which is better etc. Look at Dreamcast, way more powerful than its rivals but no 3rd party support.
A console is very dependant on software, the better the software, the more successful the console, and, lets face it, it is only sales that count.
The general public aint bothered about how many floating point calcs a machine can handle ,they want consisatnt, high quality games, and a healthy life span on their investment.
