If you're intent on not using a foreign account, then buy the mags yeah. The Official PlayStation Magazine here in the UK has pretty much every demo available off the store on a Blu-ray disk each month, so if you dont have access to the store, try and get hold of a magazine that does something similar to OPM UK...
