As for the future, Peter Dille (current head of SCEA) did say in an interview that it would be possible to patch the PS2 to be able to play downloadable PS2 games, much like we can with the PSOne games in the store now. While this would not help with your actual discs it would be a good way to get some of the classics you may have missed out on. Whether they will actually do this, however, is up in the air right now. While he did say it would be possible he did not say with any cetainty it will actually happen.
| Even if Sony did go ahead with this, they would need to really work at it. Lets be honest, sometimes the PS1 classics on the PS Store are few and far between, so what would this mean if they started to do this with PS2 games? Still, wouldnt hurt to give it a try.. |
