Hi I'm a first time poster here
My Ps3 (60gb)broke down on the first of this year playing call of duty five with error 80010514. It was fifteen months old. i contacted sony customer support ireland with a very polite email expressing my dissapointment at the situation. Sony kindly agreed to exchange my unit. I contacted the courier company on wednesday the 15th, courier arrived on the 16th and my new playstation arrived on the 21st. To have the whole thing replaced took less than a week. Sony's service was fantastic. They say its a reconditioned model i received back but it looks brand new.
All that was required of me was 16 euro to cover shipping costs, i didnt even need to provide my proof of purchase.(this may be because the shop i bought it from went out of business).
This post may not help anyone but i would suggest politely contacting sony customer support to see if they can help you as they helped me.
