According to Sony that game should work with no problems in any of the PS3's with backward compatibility (20 GB, 60 GB, 80 GB). Have you checked the disc for dirt/ scratches?

gamestations across the uk have cd repairing maschine at the cost of 1.99 will repair any disc that might be worth a try.
