I have Guitar Hero 2 game that played once and is now giving me a disc read error message. All of my other games play fine including Guitar Hero 1, what can I do?

Check the disc to see if you may have some dirt or fingerprints on there, betti. Something like that can affect how well the laser can read the disc.

If you do see some dirt there use a soft cloth and wipe the dirt away going from the center of the disc out. Do not wipe around the disc following the grooves.

There is not 1 mark on the disc I did as you said and whiped it down with the cloth for my glasses(softess I could find) still has error message. My friend just suggested I connect my ps2 to the internet and update it and that may help but I do not even know how to do that. She also told me to tell you I have model # 50001 Ps2 it is the fat one.I am not sure if that is any help to you. Please help.

Sincerely,
Betti

The PS2 doesn't get updates over the internet- I think your friend may be thinking of the PS3.

It is possible your PS2 may be on the starting trend toward dying out. You could try turning the PS2 so that it is sitting vertically or, if already vertical, lying flat. This may make the lens adjust enough to read the disc.

Just to be sure it isn't the disc, however, you should try it in a friend's PS2.

I do not know why she was telling me that she does have a PS3. Any ways if it helps others I removed my cover and cleaned my lense and adjusted the lense so it is a bit closer and now it is working like new. I tryed even one of the blue disc we have that have never worked and always showed an error reading and now they work as well.I am not sure who emailed me with that suggestion because my son decided to delete it after he read it aloud to me but it worked and I thank them and I do not recommend it if a person still has a warranty because I had to remove the void sticker but it worked. Thank you so much for your time and have a great night.

Sincerely,
Bettipettie
