Sounds like the "dog" used the Reflect spell. To get rid of it you just need to use Dispell. That gets rid of all stats pluses including Protect, Shell, and, more importantly regarding using your spells against enemies, Reflect. I hope that works. If you don't have Dispell (i think it's called that, it might be something different i froget, someone else can confirm the name of the spell) then there is an item that has the same effect, but i forget what it is. Sorry I couldn't be of more help. Jay

Where abouts in the game are you? Are you against that frozen dog? If so, then you have to constantly hit it with physical attacks until it swaps to full protect or whatever it is that cant be dispelled then you constantly hit it with magic until it swaps again. Keep using the opposite until it's finally defeated. I think that's right anyway, i'm not 100% sure as it's been a while since i played the game, as i said before. Once again, if it's not right then maybe someone else can help you out properly. Sorry i couldn't help completely.

No,it just was a "non important dog".I am in the part of the game in which u have got to travel to Arcadis ...and to reach it u have got to fight 6 little creatures that are locked in a cave... Well...near there there is a small town with a yellow crystal...and in the following north map was where the "dog" did that to me...:S Any more ideas?

Ah, I think I know where you are now. Have you just been at a save crystal outside in like a kind of grassy area and then had to travle through er to the right a while then you had to travel North through a kind mountain range either side of you then you got to a cave you had to enter (on a side note, on your way to the cave you probably encountered some of those Viper type Snake creatures but they're at a quite high level. Then you enter the cave and encounter some reasonably high level creatures again. And eventually you make your way further into the cave and on the map there should be what looks like er possibly six tunnels I think it is (i forget exactly how many). Well this is the area where you can do the waterfall kind of mini-game. Anyway, back to your query, by the sounds of it that dog is possibly one of the random encounter monsters that you can just run away from, I think. I forget exactly. If you're having trouble defeating these lesser creatures then you may need to go do some levelling up because you will eventually have to fight the six er vegetables brothers or whatever they're called that the young rich boy asks you to try to kill at the save crystal i mentioned above. These creatuires are pretty high level and take some defeating. I think I had to fight them two or possibly three time before I managed to defeat them (I had to level up quite a bit even though I was pretty high level anyway). So if you're having trouble defeating these so called "lesser" monsters then you won't stand a chance once you get to the Vegetable bosses. (On a side-note: If you look here you can find maps of this area and the route you have to take in order to do the "Waterfall Mini-Game". The reward is pretty good for this stage of your adventure, so it's well worth the time.) I really hope I'm now understanding where you are because if I'm wrong then I've just probably totally confused you and it all makes no sense. I should be correct though as you mentioned that you're on your way to Arcadia so you have to go trhough that cave I'm on about. Anyway, if that doesn't help then keep asking and hopefully someone else can help you out, ok? Jay

Yes u have got it right...i am there Anyway, the problem wasn't how to kill those bosses or the dogs...the problems is that those dogs or whatever they are(yes they are random and u can escape from them) made a reflection spell on 2 of my characters...and then i killed it with no further problems...i though that the spells effects would stop after a while but they don't...i have tried loads of things to get rid of the spell but it wont go away Thanks for the tips anyway and if u have any idea plz let me know

| OH on YOUR characters. Oh well that's easy to deal with, at lest it should be. Why didn't you say that, I thought you meant the dog had Reflect on it. Well dispell should work. However, you have to change the target as dispell automatically targets your enemy as it's an offensive spell, even though it may not seem offensive. You just need to select the spell, but before confiming the cast, you need to press down i think it is so you can change targets. I forget how you change targets, but you need to change the target from the enemy to the team member/s who has/have the Reflect status. I must admit, I thought it wore off after time as well, but I guess not. Like I've said before, it's been a while since I played this game. By casting Dispell on your party the Reflect (as well as any positive status effects like Brave, Faith, Regen, Protect etc) will be removed. If you have it, you could always set up a Gambit as the following Ally:Reflect > Dispell (I think that would be what you would have to set up) and Dispell will be cast on any ally as soon as reflect is successfully cast on them. I think that is correct. Of course, if you don't have that Gambit yet (I forget when and where it becomes available) then you could just set up a basic Gambit as follows: Ally: Any > Dispell Unfortunately that will dispell ANY status effect as soon as any status effect (regardless of whether they are positive or negative) is cast on any ally. You could always turn it off of course and back on when you need it, as opposed to leaving it on all the time. I really hope that is now the correct answer you needed. If it is, then we finally got there in the end lol. If that does NOT work, then I'm really stumped and it could be some weird bug that I, personally, have NEVER heard about.Whether it works or not, be sure to leave a reply so we know how you got on, and so we can try to help if that doesn't work, ok? | Uhmm im not home right now so i cant try out those things...but i must say that i ve tried dispell on my character several times and it fails all the time...and actually,i enteres the condition block in the menu and in in my character status it apeared refelct spell..and down it said:reflects all spells thrown to the character. Its effect will disappear on time.So it SHOULD disapear with time but it doesnt...ive been thinking that is a bug...but i havent though about the shields having reflect spell on them...i think they dont but ill try when i get home I really hope thats the problem...Than you ill keep u informed! |

That is a very good possibility, I hadn't thought of that either. If the two characters that have permanent Reflect Status both have a shield (or weapon) that is exactly the same, then it could be that that shield/weapon/accessory has the spell Reflect as apart of it. By removing said equipment, the Reflect status should then disappear over time as usual, or straight away if you cast Dispel. Be sure to keep us updated

Yeah, I had trouble finding it as well. I'm not sure if that post I did a couple of months ago has been deleted because I couldn't find it. I'll redo it here for you, and anyone else who wants to do this kind mini-type side-quest type thing, ok? Just give me about five to ten minutes to find what I need and then sort it out and post it here.

OK, I've found the information I was looking for. I'll just copy and paste the information about the Waterfall Puzzle instead of the whole guide I posted. I've posted from the bit of Sochen Cave Palace after you've just fought the Vegetable Brother monsters. Those er Madragora's I think they're called. I've done it like this because it'll be easier for you to understand which area is which (I forget if by going to the er menu screen where you can change your equipment and check out the license board etc tells you what area you're in in the Sochen Cave Palace. I think it does, but I'm not 100% sure). Anyway, all credit for this mini-walkthrough goes to a person (on a different website) with the username: Berserker So here it is, the mini-walkthrough: Be sure to fully cure your people; you still have another minor battle left up ahead. Open either of the doors to the side after the battle. They both lead the same way. (Go back to the petitioner to receive ++1000 GIL and 3 REMEDIES++). ~~ The Acolyte's Burden ~~ You'll find a save crystal, well, actually a Crystalbug in the next big room. Be careful about keeping your group together since it will use elemental magick that will hit everyone in a group. Defeat the Crystalbug and it will turn into an actual blue save crystal. You can check the dead Bangaa corpse on your way through the doors of the next area. ~~ Mirror of the Soul ~~ This cave will soon split into many different paths. Take the far east path to find an urn containing the ++MAP OF THE SOCHEN CAVE PALACE++. Don't let all the Imps and Pit Fiends gang up on you in this cave or they will surely make quick work of your party. It's a good idea to keep some Nishijin Belts on since the Pit Fiends like to cast Sleep. If you take the west set of paths, you'll like notice the Pilgrim's Door along the way. You'll need to solve a puzzle in order to open it. We'll get to that in just a moment. Use the far east path to enter the next area. ~~ Falls of Time ~~ The Strikers are the only aggressive enemies in this area. Look around and you'll notice several waterfalls blocking the paths to the different areas in this cave. Now, about the puzzle in this area, if you look around in this area (near the second door from the west), the next area (on the wall), and in the previous area (The Pilgrim's Door), you will be able to read an inscription that provides hints to the different routes you should take in order to change the flow of the waterfalls. ** WATERFALL PUZZLE ** To start things off, you need to go back the way you came by enter the path on the southeast side. I have drawn up some maps with the correct path outlined that should be taken in order to stop the waterfalls. ![]() Waterfall Puzzle Path 1 ![]() Waterfall Puzzle Path 2 Each time you enter a new area the message "The course of the waterfall seems to have changed" should be displayed across the screen to let you know that you took the correct path. The paths that you make do not need to be precise, but you MUST enter and exit from the correct pathways when entering the bottom (Mirror of the Soul), middle (Falls of Time), and top (Destiny's arch) areas. You can think of both maps as one long path, but I thought it would be best to have two to avoid confusion. You'll get that previous mentioned message three times as you enter the different areas, then on the final time you'll receive a message that says "You hear a door open in the distance". This means the middle path in the Falls of Time area is no longer blocked by a waterfall and that the Pilgrim's Door is now unlocked. Walk toward the middle area and open the treasure chest on the other side of the small bridge around the stone structure for a chance at either an ++ELIXER++ or a ++DARK MATTER++. There is also another chest off to the east that contains either an ++ELIXER++ or a ++KIKU-ICHIMONJI++ Katana. To the south, open the first Pilgrim's Door to find a chest containing either the ++KOGA BLADE++ or the ++IGA BLADE++ Ninja Swords. (The only other way to get an Iga Blade is through a drop by Bogey's in the Zertinan Caverns, so you may want to save your game after solving the puzzle and open the chest until you get that weapon if getting every weapon in the game is important to you since none of these chests will respawn). (The Koga Blade can be achieved through a side quest). Keep in mind that the chests are random, so if they don't all three appear then reload your game from the previous save point (after saving when the puzzle is solved of course). As long as you haven't opened one, then they will appear eventually. Last edited by jay290783 : 09-22-2007 at 01:27 PM.
