The problem is in EA itself, not you. There's nothing you can do other than try again later on.

Hmm... do you have a router in place with a firewall running? It's possible that is blocking the incoming traffic to your system.

You may not have to turn off the firewall altogether (you likely want this on for your computer) but if you go into the settings you can open the ports needed for the PS2 in Port Forwarding.

This will have to be done in the router's set up section. To get to netgear's set up go to NETGEAR Support Home Page in your web browser. The username should be admin and the password will either be password (original, aren't they?) or 1234. Once in look around for the Advanced section for Port Forwarding/ Port Triggering. Select the port Forwarding button and go down to Add Service.

From here you will need to enter the service name (PlayStation 2 FIFA 08 as an example), You can leave the user menu at Any. Now, you will need the port numbers FIFA uses- this should be found in the manual with the game. Select the port type they say (TCP or UDP) and the number they say is the triggering port (this is where your outgoing data will go). Just below are blanks for putting port numbers for incoming traffic. Again, select between TCP and UDP and put the numbers they say in the Starting Point and Ending Point blanks. Once everything is in place hit the Apply button and you should be able to get your Footie on.

If you aren't sure where to go the netgear support pages have links to check out here. You can also check out the user manual by clicking here.
