Default how to connect to the internet
i got only a cable modem no router so i try to connect to the internet but when it began to adquire an ip address it failed how can i fix this, and if i need a router?

A simple fix that usually worked with the PS2 was to turn off the cable modem for a short time (30 seconds or so) then plug it back in. This would "release" it from thinking it is on the PC.

I would definitely recommend buying a router, however, to avoid the cable switching altogether. Linksys or D-Link are two of the more recommended brands.
