| I have managed to set my Playstation netweork up fine but am really having problems trying to sort my mates out. The way that I have set mine up is by having a filter in the phone socket; one lead going to the phone the other going to the router. When setting up the router, I had to enter my ISP username and password with PPoE and it was as simple as that – the PS3 could connect to the net straight away. There was no need to use the USB modem that was provided by my ISP. My mates setup is different. He is with NTL cable so doesn’t have a phone socket like I have. What he has is a cable coming from the wall and into the back of his modem. The modem is USB which is connected to his PC. The modem also has an Ethernet port which I have tried plugging into the back of the router through an Ethernet cable. To connect the router to the PC I have used another Ethernet cable. I have rung his ISP and they have said that there is no password or username for his account (this is the bit that is really confusing me). As this is the case, the PPoE connection through the router wont work. I have also tried to connect using dynamic IP but that wont work either. I can set up his wireless network and get his PS3 to see it but I can’t get it to connect to the internet via the router. Can anyone please help? |

| Part of the problem may be you need to choose either the USB or ethernet connection- you may not be able to use both. Try connecting the modem just to the router via the ethernet cable and then connect the PC to the router. If it is going online you'll know the router is working fine and can then concentrate on the PS3. |
