Default blue ray and dvd movies have no colour on ps3?
hi everyone

I got casino royale the other day and it and there was no colour, i tried a dvd and that also had no colour.

How can i fix this problem?

What sort of connection are you using to the tv? If it is a low-def SCART connection that could be the trouble. If you were able to hook up in an alternate method such as component cables this shouldn't be happening.

This might sound stoopid, but the first 10 minutes of Casino Royale is filmed in black and white anyway.

but if you are still experiencing the problem with other dvds then I cant explain the solutions better then Lyndon

From what I can gather Blu-Ray movies are done at 60 hz while PAL is at 50 Hz. If you are watching a blu-ray disc on a normal low- def connection such as the SCART connection (quick note, this is not applicable to NTSC sets which are 60 Hz) you will wind up having the movie show in black and white. Hooking up via high-def (component or HDMI) takes care of this as this is universal.

I have the black and white problem too

I bought World trade centre to see what this whole blue ray malarchy was about (only got SD connection (Scart) and SD TV but the games looked so nice i couldn't resist)

Black and white all the way through. Seems like from what i've read its the 60htz problem. I knew i should have brought my newer TV from home

Stupid crappy 60htz NTSC... PAL all the way hehe (apologies: i'm a UK TV camera man and i hate NTSC )

Hold on a minute, you bought a PS3 to find out about Blu-ray.......but you don't have a HDTV?.
You can't appreciate Blu-ray on a SDTV!!

LOL yeah next time i have the odd couple of grand floating around and my own place, and my own mortgage maybe i'll get a HD TV! lol

As the quality concerns go... The games look better than SD DVDs and SD TV footage so i'm quite happy with my PS3! even on a SD tv. Its just a bother that my newer TV (still not HD but at least flat screen) is not at my flat in London and i'm pretty sure it supports 60htz.

Grr @ me for not driving
