 DNS error 80710101 Howdy. I am going through my university's ethernet connection in my dorm. I just bought the PS3 40Gb, attempted connecting, but I consistently got this error! I tried trouble shooting by myself, but, how do I obtain the info needed to connect to the network and what info do I need to connect successfully, ex. IP, Proxy, etc? I already tried automatic detection, but, same error... Any help, suggestions, comments?      |

| Re: DNS error 80710101 Your best bet would be to contact the people that maintain the university's internet access and ask them for the numbers you need. You can still leave the system's IP address at automatic but you will likely need to ask about the DNS addresses. You may want to ask them about specific ports being open or closed by default- playing online requires certain ports for chatting, access to the game servers, etc. The ones to check on are TCP Ports: 80, 443, 5223, and 10070 - 10080 and UDP Ports: 3478, 3479, 3658, and 10070. If you plan on using a bluetooth headset also ask about UDP ports 6000 to 7000, 10070 and 50000. |
