| Join The Absolute PlayStation Folding@Home Team! This is an open invitation to all AP members with a PlayStation 3 to join us in the fight against Parkinson's, Alzeimer's and forms of cancer using the Folding@Home application found in the PS3's Network menu. What's Folding@Home? It is a research program conducted by the folks at Stanford University. People running this program on their systems get sent bits of data for processing while the system sits idle- once completed the results get sent back and more data gets sent down to crunch. As i mentioned above, this research is to hopefully find breakthroughs toward cures for various diseases. What do i do? You simply let the program run when you can. It will not interfere with your game playing/ movie watching/ music- it only runs when the PS3 is completely idle. What's in it for me? While there are no prizes involved you do have the knowledge that the research done with this may one day help you or someone you know/ love defeat various diseases. Ok, how do i join the team? Very easy- once the program is running hit the triangle button to bring up the Options menu for F@H. Scroll down to Identity and hit X. Choose the second option, "Join an existing team". Now, just enter the team number, 54263, and hit Enter. That's it- you are now on the team! You may also want to change the donor name to match your name here at Absolute PlayStation. You can easily do this by selecting "Change Donor Name" in the Identity area of the options. If anyone has any questions about this feel free to send me a PM or check out the thread pinned to the top of the PlayStation Discussions section, found here I thank everyone for taking the time to read this, hope to see you on the team! |
