Resident evil - early days need help

Hi, I have been playing this game for 2 weeks now and I find I am stuck in the room that required the gold key. *It contains various portraits of family members each with a button to press below, at the top of the room there is a further portrait with a button. *I have tried all ways to try and see what do to so am getting desperate. *Any help would be greatly appreicated.

soozie, this is what you do - Push the switches under the portraits in this order: * * * * * * * * * * [*]Newborn Baby * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *[*]Infant * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * [*]Lively Boy * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *[*]Young Man * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * [*]Tired Middle-Aged Man * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * [*]Bald Old Man * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *
Then go to the portrait on the western wall entitled "The End of Life" and press the switch. The frame will drop to the floor, *revealing the first CREST!!!
