Default Missing cords

Hey there...I just bought a Playstation and am missing whatever goes in the Parallel I/O port and the Serial I/O port. What are these for and can I use the Playstation without them?

Bit hard to use without the audio/ video output cords and power supply- that's what those two ports are for.

No offense (I know I'm the newbie in this situation), but I already have the video/audio and know where the power cord goes. It's labelled ~A/C.

Sorry, was looking back at the instruction manual for the PSOne- it only has the two ports for a/v and power.

Regarding the older model, those ports never did get used for anything. So, you should be good to go.
