| Ever since it was introduced to the PlayStation 3 Absolute PlayStation has had a team formed for the Folding@Home project run by Stanford University. This endeavor strives to find breakthroughs toward cures for several life threatening diseases. Details on how to join the team can be found in the pinned thread in PlayStation Discussion. With the formation of the team it was thought to do a contest to raise awareness about the team, get more members tojoin up and also make for some community-wide involvement. We are asking you, the members, to design the logo which will be used on the team's stats page over on Stanford University's site. There are only a couple of requirements: - the team number must be included (54263) - the site url must be included (www.absolute-playstation.com) - maximum size for the logo is 400 pixels wide by 400 pixels high - image must be either in .jpg or.gif format Once you have your logo made to your satisfaction just e-mail it to me at lyndon@absolute.ws with the subject "Logo Contest". The deadline for entries is June 30- this gives you a bit over a month to get it in. Limit of one entry per person, please. Also, be sure to include your forum username. Once all entries are in a poll will be set up for you, the members, to vote on which logo is best. Voting will run for approximately 2 weeks to allow ample time for members to voice their opinion. Once a winner is announced that person's logo will replace the one being used currently on the stats page PLUS the winner will get a prize sent to them. What sort of prize? Could be a game, maybe a gift certificate... we're going to leave that as a surprise for now. Looking forward to seeing some of the entries- good luck! |

| Jay, why would there be no point in you entering? The remote will work just as well for you as it does for the North American units and shipping it over should you win won't be a problem. Give it a shot, man! |

| I found a bigger picture for the participants to salivate over .Here it is, if you want to see the remote up close. Only 15 more days, right? On a related note... what do those blue, red, green, yellow buttons do? I see them on the PS3 DVD Settings pop-up menu as well. What do they do? |

| Been seeing that question cropping up a lot lately- those buttons can be assigned various functions by the disc publisher. As an example, you might be able to zoom in on a scene by pushing the red button, if the publisher chose to do so. Only another 13 days or so to get entries in folks! |

That is interesting. Do all Blu-Ray player remotes have those buttons? I would guess that they do, but I haven't looked at any other player than the PS3. |

I'm not really motivated enough to try and do this anyway. If I'm going to start something, I want to put my all into it, but as it's artistic I'm a bit (okay a lot) unartistic (is that even a word? Maybe the next competition if it's less arty... Maybe some kind of weird caption competition, best caption has that caption put in a speech bubble on the photo and then wins a prize. Now That I would definitely enter |

That caption competition could be like a weekly, fortnightly, or monthly thing. Be great, and we'd have loads of people entering, possibly making all these "guests" become actual members So that's the next competition sorted once this one runs out; all we'll need would be a selection of photos, use one at a time obviously, and then the competition will be well away |

| "fortnightly"? I'm not picking on you, but do you guys use that word over in the U.K.? Would the photos up for captioning be only Video Game photos, or could we do other kinds of photos too? That's the question... |

But, as I just asked, what's wrong with using that word? Quote:
I guess we could have two Caption Comps running side-by-side. One could be a Playstation Related one (like a Screen Capture of a Character in-game) and the other could just be a randon one like a picture of a celeb. We could do the captions as either speech bubbles or thought bubbles (the entrants would just have state whether they thought their caption would be spoken words or thoughts). I'll leave it to Lyn and/or Jim and see if they think the Caption Competition idea is a good one. Then we could put it to a vote on the General Discussions forum and see how many people think it's a good idea and how many don't. That way we could judge (in a roundabout kinda way) how popular the Caption Comp would be and how many people would likely enter; leading to the conclusion of whether it would be worth running or not (as it would be a regular occurrence). |
