Hello, im new and my name is fred from tampa, fla. I have a ps3 80gb right out of the box. My internet is connected with brighthouse roadrunner cable. I have a brighthouse arris combo voip phone and internet modem. I unplugged the ethernet cable from the puter and plugged it in to the ps3. I rebooted the modem. I went to network settings and used the easy, and everything else automatic. When I do the connectivity test, it passes the ip test but then fails the second part due to a dns error. Am I going to have to manually enter my dns address to get this to connect? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Since the name server will always be your router, just find out what the DNS server is and then enter it in manually in the PS3. If that doesn't work, let me know.

Thanks a lot. I dont have a router just the combo modem from brighthouse. I will try tonight to type in the dns address manually and let you know how that does. Since I also use a user name and pass word with brighthouse internet access, I might have to enter that manually under BPOE. I was wondering about that.

Really strange, I just tried it again, making sure the ethernet cable was in all the way and rebooted the modem and popped right up online. Works great and I already got my updates. Tomorrow I will get my wireless logitech keyboard and my sony remote working and I will be all set to see if an old guy like me can play a game. lol Thanks again for your help. Fred
