I've noticed a new trend on the silver screen. Gone for the most part are the splatter flix of the 80's, gone for the most part are the sappy-assed comedies. The biggest movies now seem to be the "damn I didn't see that coming" type. Movies that upon watching the second time you see the clues you missed the first time.

To name a few, Memento, The Sixth Sense, Fight Club, The Others, The Ring.

What do you members think of this type of movie? And can you recommend any of the same genre. I love the switch from the predictible story to the holy sh!t ending myself.

Anyway, let me know.

Memnto truely was a good movie, I've been thinking of getting a similar "mih llik dna mih dniF" tattoo on my chest.
I heard that you can play it in cronological order on the DVD.

I found "the Others" a bit predictable however, might show that I'm getting used to think in ways of unsuspected endings.

I assume that "The usual suspects" is a movie you've heard about but forgot to list.
Didn't "Pulp Fiction" also leave you matching the scenes together after the end shot?

One movie with a truely unpredictable ending must be "Night of the living dead".
I was like , damn, can you really end a movie like that?
Shows a bit how you get used to the movie endings.

One movie that I saw lately that didn't really have a strange ending but had alot of clues that you didn't see the first time was Signs. If you really look at some stuff the little things that they say finally make sense.

As I said folks "to name a few" I also own Resevoir Dogs and Usual Suspects. Both excellent movies! I want to know what you think of this genre.

What do I think of the genre?
I like it, you would think that any body would but that's not the case. Having to accually think while watching a movie isn't always what people want. I had a discussion with a guy that hated memento since he could'nt relax while watching it.

I do however feel that I'll learn the ways these films work and then the whole thing will lose a bit of its charm.
But if you watch an old Agata Christie mistery on film it will have the same effect on you.The thing that differs these new ones from an old murder mystery is that you don't kow that the story will unravel at the end.

Have you seen "Mullholland Drive" ?
Now there's a thinker for you. Can't say that the ending expained much though.
I kind of got the idea of the film after half way through.

The movie "Minority Report" was a little bit of a thinker too, I thought! (heh heh heh, .......'therefore I am'! )

Didn't really expect that little twist in there to be there...... for those of you who've seen it. I won't say anymore, for those of you who haven't seen it! But I will say it held a couple of surprises for me!

I rather like this genre of movie!! I like a film that makes me think, and one that makes me want to buy it so that I can see it again and again to be able to see more and more stuff that I missed the first time. Pulp Fiction was one such movie, I agree.

I can't agree with you any more. I'm not going to be a spoiler either, but that was a good movie with a good little twist!

Talking

Minority report was one of the most confusing films that I have ever seen, and I had to talk to my friend for 2o minutes on the way home to understand what it meant!

There is not only one twist, there are loads of them, coupled together with special effects.

It would be amazing if A game had the plots of some of them coupled with amazing gameplay.

There is your answer Suze.

Mullholland Drive was an excellent movie. I love movies where the bad guys win.
