The old thread was getting kinda long, so i'd thought i'd start a new one, given its a new year and all. For those of you who don't know - we had a thread called random rants that was very big a while ago. It was started by KiLLA last summer and I know i certainly enjoyed waffling on in it about all sorts of stuff and nonsense! Post whatever pops into your head really. If something has pi**ed you off recently, or maybe you've just had a bad day - let everybody know about it. It can be serious or just plain stupid - it doesn't matter

Remember - this was the thread that the * *emoticon was originally designed for. Its true i tell you! As if i'd lie *:2devilish:

Par example:

Here's something that's sticking in my throat right now - fuc**ng PAL release dates. I'm predominantly referring to MGS2 and FFX, but this s**t happens time and time again. We have to wait until when – fu**ing May for FFX – what the hell is that all about? It’ll be out on Platinum for NTSC before we chuffing well get hold of it grrrrrrr. Oh, its so we get localised vocals so it makes more sense to us (have nicked your wording Mad, but no dis or grief meant to you personally). Oh yeah i 'd forgotten that the game was set in Yorkshire and that eveyone in the US predominantly speaks Swahili, so we clouldn't possible understand what's going on if we had the same version. What a load of cack!

Oo oo, we get some extra disc on the making of MGS2, so that makes up for over 3 ½ months of wait – I don’t fuc**ng think so (Mad’s already pointed out you can get it online anyway). Is that the reason? Is that the real reason? I should blimmin well cocoa! March 8th the new release date hmmmmm. Does it strike anybody else as funny that out of some strange accidental coincidence this new date is suspiciously close (only few days before in fact) the official launch of the X-box in Europe. Does this strike anybody else as somewhat convenient for Sony. Wow, Sony couldn’t have planned this better themselves could they? How lucky are they? :P

OK we all know that Sony need to do what they can to compete in Europe with the old X-box and Cube – but do they really have to treat us gamers like a bunch of muppets? I mean, the largest demographic of PS2 owners is the early to mid 20’s – that means that the majority of PS2 owners are not little ‘my life is so unfair’ wannabe script kiddies who’ll believe anything they see on MTV. Most owners actually have a certain amount of life experience and understand how things work in ‘real life’.

Sony - If release dates are going to be put back for strategic business reasons – at least have the decency and respect for the people who’s purchasing power keeps your company in business to give it to us straight. Giving us some flimsy, poxy, bulls**t reason is not going to fool anybody with slightly more intelligence than retarded roadkill.

A great deal of Playstation gamers respect and are loyal to Sony – it would be nice if that worked both ways for a change wouldn’t it?

Maybe i'm completely wrong, maybe i'm just cynical?

There again.....maybe the earth is fu**ing flat.

I'm with you Gid

we shell out a f**king fortune every year to buy our games and then we still get treated like sh*t

the excuse is localisation of the languages? well that might explain the reason behind the delay of FFX (voice dubbing) but what about GT3 and the like - we always have to wait - first japan, then North America then Europe and the remaining PAL regions.

Did some one forget to mention to SONY that after the japanese home market its actually us - the bottom of the barrel, the last at the kitchen table - us Europeans are the next biggest market for consoles and games.

So why are we treated like the poor relations?

MSG2 was rushed in US for X-Box release and now its to be delayed in Europe? Some 4 months later?

Bo**ocks!

and by the way the world isnt flat - if it was we would see these games comming - but unfortunately they are still over the horizon!

i'm behind you guys for 100%, this thing ####ing me off for a long time. you guys in euope can see your self lucky cause at least you know when it will be released. here in israel i have to add 2-4 weeks from the PAL release date and then hope it will be imported because only 33%(+,-) of the games get to the stores. some times i hed to neg the store meneger (a friend of mine) for weeks until he could find a game i wanted thet is rated as (pop) in this site.

i guess the world is not a global "vilage" but a global "city" with uptown and downtown.

I have one thing to say at the moment: Why do they serve American food at Chinese restaurants?

What's up with all the free stuff that Japanese gamers get? I guess other gaming areas aren't quite the same. If they would sell the special edition of Xenosaga in the U/C or PAL regions then i would go out there and buy it. I guess that the Jap. market is the only real area that publishers feel are getting the games or are going to buy them. And why are there even different regions for gaming? Why can't all games just be released on the same region coding with the a way to change the different voiceovers in the game and then things would be much better. I don't see why this couldn't be done but then again i guess they get more money out of this some how. The gaming industry in general could be run so much better if companies would just talk and get things straght. Like i was having a chat with a lady from Sony about the online network and it seems that Sony doesn't want to release it until publishers show them some interest but yet i have heard from other companies that they will not and can not put out games until Sony gives them a release date for the online system. Some communication between companies would have things cleared up for alot of people. Sony has put the network on the back burner and no one is supposed to divulge any info on it. So why did they say anything in the first place then? Well, good thing that Square is putting out their own network and you will be able to get a modem built especially for FFXI.

Man, I really liked that one mushroom burger or whatever that they had at Wendy's on time. They always do it as one of those 'Limited Time Only' deals, I hate that, now I can't get one until they bring it back for another 2 seconds!

:2devilish: A guy get so dam*ed tired of living in a free country where *your rights seem to dwindle a little each day.

My rant is about sick freaks who search the net for victims, I am talking about child molesters. I will not go in to the horrible things that should happen to them. *I read an article where a father found out about a guy chating with his 12 year old daughter, so dad went online as his little girl and made arangements to meet this germ, when he meet him he proceeded to beat the crap out of him, he was sentenced to 5 years for aggervated assault. *People should not take the law into their own hands, but what choice do you have when the law has got it's head so far up it's own a$$ that it protects the offender more than the victim. *:nono:

I agree with DC…but i would like to add how sickening it is that the "true victims" aren't the ones that the law seems to protect any more…

OK, here’s a bit of a rant, but it also raises a serious point about the future of online console gaming:

I’m so sick and fu**ing tired of logging on for a bit of Counter Strike action and seeing some little script kiddy with 150 frags and no kills, or watching some dude with an almost paranormal sixth sense for seeing through walls and around corners (well its got something to do with ghosts, I guess).

When CS first came out people used to play it using proper tactics and games used to be a great deal of fun. Nowadays everything has deteriorated into a load of cheating bast*rds treating CS as a Quake Deathmatch type of game – which is fine if that’s what you enjoy, but not me (if you hadn’t guessed).

So what as this got to do with Playstation?

Well, as we know, most console gamers enjoy playing the games for what they are and enjoy the challenge of completing a title themselves. However, there is a proportion of the gaming community who don’t give a damn about the challenge or even playing the game so it would seem. They run around with their little gamesharks and strategy guides surgically attached asking questions like how do I pause the game or how do I open doors etc. because they can’t be bothered to read the instructions and don’t have the intelligence to work it out for themselves; and the only thing they are concerned with is bragging rights concerning how quickly they completed a game, or how high their score is (like anybody really cares).

These people will inevitable be online as soon as its available because they will cry and stamp their feet until mummy and daddy buy them whatever they want (perish the thought they would ever have to work for anything, which is half the problem when it comes to their gaming attitude).

These a**holes will be there waiting for the rest of us (generally because they have no other life and probably no friends who aren’t just like themselves), and you can bet your life that some form of ‘God Cheat’ will have been activated way before your character even spawns. For all those gamers who haven’t yet played online - when you see Tony Hawks mysteriously defying gravity (even more than normal) and getting unfeasibly large scores; or some dude taking multiple anti tank missiles to the head and not even blinking, you’ll know what I’m talking about.

Is this the future of online gaming? You can bet you’re a** its going to be a significant part of it

And what are the games companies and server hosts going to do about it? F**k all! As long as people are actually using the servers they wont give a s**t, don't forget folks its quantity not quality that counts *

I have to agree with you there Gideon. I do not understand those who purchase a new game, insert thier GameShark (or buy the stratagey manual), and zip right through a game just to get to the end.

As you stated, sure these people can brag about thier high scores or how fast they completed a game, but they are truely missing out on the stratagey(ies) and the little nuances that a quality game provides the "average" user.

To me, it's akin to purchasing a new book, reading the last chapter, then throwing it away!

What a waste…

Yeah, Gid, I've done some online gaming, only with Diablo II: Lord of Destrucion though. *Have gotten into a game a few times with a family member of my husband's work-mate, and he's one of those 'rip-off artists' you're talking about. *He plays a low-level character and follows us around, not fighting or killing anything, just comes in after the kill *to pick up the loot! *OH MAN THAT P!SSES ME OFF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! *After I've gotten my Barbarian darn near killed with 20 baddies, I earned that full helm with +200% defense, +100 to mana, all defenses +100% etc.... *DON'T JUST HANG AROUND AND TAKE ALL THE GOODIES THAT I FOUGHT FOR WHILE YOU JUST WATCHED!!!!!!!!!!!!!! * So, what I do now is create games with just 2 player openings, and a password, so Hubby-Pooh can join me and NO ONE ELSE! Sheeesh, it's a real shame that people can't just enjoy gaming for the pleasure of figuring stuff out for themselves and EARNING the advancement that they get!! *I just don't get it man, I really don't!!
And, DAC, there are restrictions on growing your own tobacco?? *Interesting... you should move here to Maryland, lots of people grow tobacco here.... and 'roll their own'....(the legal stuff!!)... but, ya know, it's the niccotine that's the biggest problem, not the plant itself.

GID i agree. i mean i do use strategy guides but only on some parts of the game. i mean its not like i go around everywhere in the game without the strategy guide. but my main point is i dont get people who try to beat a game faster than everyone else. because i mean its stupid. gamesharks, strategy guides its all nonsense if you dont even figure out the main controls by the time youre halfway through the game. watever. no offense but new gamers are p*ssys. "oops forgot to buy the strategy guide cant start this game" or "no gameshark codes for this cant play it". it gives a bad name to gamers!

Those people with ‘way too much time on their hands’ that are determined to take the fun out of life have been at it again. Apparently it’s no longer safe to play any console that has a vibrating controller for extended periods of time (an extended period being classed as anything over an hour on a regular basis– these people are obviously not gamers!). If you use a vibrating controller for more than an hour (steady ladies ) you run the risk of developing ‘Hand-arm vibration syndrome’, which is usually more commonly associated with prolonged use of things like pneumatic drills.

Is it just me, or is there a fu**ing huge difference between a pneumatic drill and a duelshock controller – errrrr just slightly!

When are these people going to get a fu**ing life?

What’s next? You’re not advised to play more than 30 seconds Playstation a day otherwise you will contract the bubonic plague and all your internal organs will explode?

You’d think I’d have got used to all the antics of the ‘lets spoil everyone’s fun' brigade, but they still continue to surprise me with new and improved utter bulls**t. These people need to be locked up – they’re more dangerous than a disgruntled postal worker with a subscription to ‘Guns and Ammo’.

Vibration syndrome? * :happy2: * I always knew my controller had another use *The strategy guide thing kinda p***s me off too, when we bought Gt3Aspec from eb, they were selling the strategy guide and a ...Cheat disk!? *We were like, "give us a chance to play the game for a bit first". *The only priority the shops have is to sell as many games as they can right? *Think about it, you buy a strategy guide, if you use it the game'll be over in no time, result? - got to buy another game.

*I bought MystIII Exile for the pc not so long back, a special edition set, which also included a strategy guide. *Temptation pulled me in and I completed the game within the week. *Now I remember why we banned ou
