Post Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows

Well, in the United States, we've still got to wait until July 21st to actually get this book, but now we know just about all of the neccessary facts on it.

-------------------------------------------------

The number of pages in the book will be: 784

The cover looks a lot like this: Front Cover

And the entire "dust jacket" is a painting in itself. This is cool: Dust Jacket

The front and back of the book jacket read as follows:

Inside Flap:
Harry has been burdened with a dark, dangerous and seemingly impossible task: that of locating and destroying Voldemort’s remaining Horcruxes. Never has Harry felt so alone, or faced a future so full of shadows. But Harry must somehow find within himself the strength to complete the task he has been given. He must leave the warmth, safety , and companionship of The Burrow and follow without fear or hesitation the inexorable path laid out for him… In this final, seventh installment of the Harry Potter series, J.K. Rowling unveils in spectactular fashion the answers to the many questions that have been so eagerly awaited. The spellbinding, richly woven narrative, which plunges, twists and turns at a breathtaking pace, confirms the author as a mistress of storytelling, whose books will be read, reread and read again.
Back Cover:
Harry is waiting in Privet Drive. The Order of the Phoenix is coming to escort him safely away without Voldemort and his supporters knowing – if they can. But what will Harry do then? How can he fulfil the momentous and seemingly impossible task that Professor Dumbledore has left him with?

-------------------------------------------------

So those are all the pressing facts about the book (I'll edit this post if any more facts come out later). I thought I'd share those with anyone who had missed a fact or two. If you reply to this thread just to say "I don't like Harry Potter", then I will not be happy with you.

But if you want to discuss some Harry Potter, up until the release of the last book in the series, this is the thread to do it in!

Snape is bad. That's what I'm sticking with. I think in the last book it will be a confusing time for Harry, and he will have trouble deciding for himself whether Snape is good or bad. But eventually, I'm guessing that Snape is bad through and through.

Do you think that Harry Potter is going to die in this book?

mmmm - I think that the last horcrux is in harry in some way so the only way to finish voldemort off is to kill himself. Or would that be too much for the kid readers?

I still not sure about snape though...

I don't know about the horcrux being IN Harry, but I would bet that Harry is going to have to make a hard decision while searching for the horcruxes. Like: let a close friend die or kill Voldie. I know, thats a little vague, because the whole book will probably be full of hard decisions Harry has got to make, but that's all I've got.

I think Snape has displayed too much bad aura that it is kind of irreversible right now. He has let good people die, so that automatically makes him bad in my mind. I don't think he could do something good enough to suddenly become a "good guy".

New question: Do you think any of Harry's friends will die? Much has been said about perhaps Ginny dying, or maybe Ron Weasley. I think there is a good chance that Ginny will die... how about you?

I agree Rob, I think Harry will die though.

I dunno about Snape still...

I was thinking the other day, even though J.K. says that this is the last book in the series, it's not really. In five to ten years, she will be low on funds () and she'll definitely write another one, using whatever characters that didn't die off in "Deathly Hallows".

This is the biggest book series ever, J.K. isn't just going to quit.

I think its very likely that harry will die and voldemort, but do you think in a duel !!! i mean realistically how could j.k make out that harrys a match for voldemort... i no they fought in goblet of fire and that weird thing happened between them but harry would have lost eventually, and unless harrys one lucky guy he shouldnt have any help in the last book!!!

Lets wait and see about snape...

And yeah even though j.k has earnt what millions and millions of pounds off harry potter, more money will lure her in to writing another harry potter book..

Unless she writes another multi million pound bestselling series in the next couple of years..

Thumbs up Re: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows

Oooh my goodness, I am really looking forward to both the book and the movie this summer!! I will DEFINITELY be going to see that one!!! By myself even, if I have to!!

I believe there will be at least one death in the last book, (remember please that Harry finally found a God-father who was then lost to him). Ms. Rowling is not put out by putting death in her books, obviously, since it is a natural part of life's process and it seems to me that she is very good at giving her readers (children included) credit for being intelligent enough to handle that truth. My opinion, though, is that at least one of the deaths will be Professor Dumbledore. I don't know why I feel that, but I can imagine Dumbledore losing his life while assisting Harry in a duel with Voldemort.

As for Snape, I have always held that he is one of the good guys, and I still hold to that.

Oh, and no, I don't think Harry is gonna die either.
Guess we'll all be finding out for sure soon enough!! Ok, it's not soon enough to suit me! LOL!!!!!!!

MC, excellent thread and thank you for including the links to the cover and dust jacket. Woweee, what incredible artwork!!!!!!!!!!

Soz been away for a while.

Anyway, I HAD to answer this. Prof. Dumbledore died in book 6 Half Blood Prince. Snape killed him. Dumbledore made Harry put on his Cloak of Invisibility, just as they were entering Hogwarts. Snape was there, started to kill Dumbledore, Harry tried to help, but Dumbledore kind of paralyzed Harry so he couldn't reveal himself.
Snape then escaped. Harry went after him but couldn't catch him in time.
They had the funeral right at the very end of the book. Everyone was there, even the Merpeople of the lake came above the water and sang (albeit deafening to everybody else as they screech when above water as we found out with the Egg in the fourth book).

As for the seventh book. Someone close to Harry is supposed to die apparently, don't have a clue who though. My money is prob on Ron as he's, kind of, the weakest of the three main characters. Although, it could be Hermione due to her sometimes getting VERY emotional (didn't mean that as a sexist remark, but it IS true nonetheless).

As for Harry being the final Horcrux, it's a BIG possibility. Afterall, they are basically pieces of Voldemorts soul, each being a transferrence of some of his power.
His power was transferred into Harry which is why Harry is so gifted and powerful.
That's also why Harry's wand is the twin to Voldemort's wand (as we found out in the very first book when Harry was taken "shopping" by Hagrid).

So that's my er 6 or 7 pence/cents worth
