Unhappy

Okay, this is the first time I've seen this thread. Just read all the way through it so I think I get what it's about.
So on that note I'll give it a go...

What does...
Pele
The Referee who sent off Wayne 'Shrek' Rooney in the FIFA World Cup Quarter Final between England and Portugal
and David Beckham of England
all have in common?

I hope I've done that right

Okay, I don't know if anyone has actually looked at this yet, or at least thought about it. Anyway, I was going to give you all a BIG clue but it would've made it far too easy so instead I'm going to give you a clue along the same lines as my original clue but more er general so to speak.
Anyway, to help you with my three things try thinking about...

Geography

Hope that helps a little

Let me see...

Don't know a whole lot about soccer (that's what we call it) <_< but I'll take a guess. I've heard of Pele and Beckham and I saw the match in question but that doesn't help me much.

<strike>Ummm, they all failed geography in school?</strike>
<strike>Wait, I know. They all vacation in Hawaii?</strike>
They all have Brazilian wives?

He he he, Charger. I don't think Posh is Brasillian but good guess.

I've been doing some research and to tell you the truth I can't find anything obviously linking theese men together.

The closest clue I got is New York.
Pelé ended his career playing for the Cosmos in NY
Beckham has a boy Called Brooklyn (which is a part of NY)
But Horacio Elizondo (the ref) is just and Argentinian gym teacher who likes to write poetry...

Unless the answer is someting quite trivial such as they were all in Gelsenkirchen on July 1:st...

Thumbs up

I just realised I have made possibly the biggest blunder ever.
It should have read like this

What does...
Diego Maradonna
The Referee who sent off Wayne 'Shrek' Rooney in the FIFA World Cup Quarter Final between England and Portugal
and David Beckham of England
all have in common?

I shall now go and hang my head in shame and hide until possibly the next World Cup or at least Euro2008

p.s. you should all get the answer straight away now. How on Earth did I confuse Pele and Maradonna? If I drank I could've at least blamed it on booze...

I'm still baffled by this.

Maradona and Elizondo are both from Argentina and has taken part of a world cup final. Beckham has not.
Beckham plays for Madrid, Maradona has played for Barcelona both teams are Spannish. Elizondo has (as far as I know) never been much of a football player.

Beckham recieved a red card - got blamed for Englands loss
Elizondo gave Rooney a red card - got blamed?
Can't remember that Maradona ever got sent off in an important game...

What am I missing here?

Talking

You're oh so close there Man. If you don't get this you'll kick yourself silly because it is sooo simple. You're overcomplicating it. Remember the clue, think GEOGRAPHY

Just thought, to make it interesting I'm gonna put a time limit on this. If it's not been answered by around 12pm Wednesday UK time (1pm Western Europe time, er about 6am ish in parts of the US, dunno AUS time) then I'll post the answer, ok?

OK, I'm guessing you're all stuck on this one so the answer is...

Argentina

You see, as pointed out by Manneman, Maradonna played for Argentina (most famous for the Hand of God goal against England)
The Referee (Elizondo Horacio or whatever his name is) who sent off Shrek against Portugal at this years World Cup is Argentinian.
And as for Beckham? Well technically there's TWO connections. The one I was looking for was that he got sent off in France '98 World Cup. Who did he get sent off against I hear you ask? Why no other than Argentina.
The other possibility, which I would've accepted, is that he was sent off for Scum United (Sorry Manchester United) in the World Club Championships in South America. Who sent him off? Why none other than our "friend" who sent off Shrek in this years World Cup.

So there you have it. Told you it was easy, lol

So for the next one, how about something truly easy? In fact it's so easy that even little children could get the answer.

Anyway...
What is the connection between...
a Giant Spider
a Giant Snake
and Dragons?

Get thinking people...

Well congrats...
That didn't last long.
I'm gonna be mean though and ask if you can say in which books the Giant Spider, Giant Snake and Dragons appeared.
First one to say that get's to have their turn at this game
--------------------------------------------------------------Update----------------------------------------------------------------
You have to give the FULL name of the books...
i.e. Harry Potter and the Philosophers Stone NOT the First Book

Well guess nobody can figure out which books these three creatures were in.
The Giant Spider and the Giant Snake were both in the 3rd book Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets
The Dragons were in the 4th book Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire

Seem as nobody got it fully, I'll give it to Charger who DID work out the Harry Potter theme. I just wanted to see if Charger, or anyone else, could give the exact connection to the Harry Potter universe.

Ah well, take it away Charger...

Thank you for the concession. I have seen all 4 movies but I never read any of the books and since you asked for books...

Anyways, back to the game. This should be pretty simple.

Cheese
Sand
Potato

Manne, if I told you that, it wouldn't be a *secret* anymore, now would it?!

I'll give it a few more guesses then I'll add a clue. Surely someone will get it before then.

Uhhh, no.

Two of the items may not always be called what I'm looking for, but sometimes they are.
Does that help?

I seriously can't get this.
All I can think of is that Cheese can be called Dairy (as in a dairy product)
Potato can be called something else, but can't remember right now.
Come on, give us a clue, pleeeaaase

Your clue for potato is - Think preparation.
Your clue for cheese is - Think presentation.
Your clue for sand is - You don't get one. (That's a clue right there)
